Railways: Fares
- Question
- To ask the Minister of State, Department for Transport what recent progress has been made on the provision of through tickets; and if he will make a statement.
- Answer
-
Each train operator's passenger licence requires them to be a party to, and comply with, arrangements for through tickets approved by the Secretary of State. The arrangements are contained in an inter-operator agreement called the Ticketing and Settlement Agreement and ensure that through tickets are available to all other rail destinations in Great Britain. There are also arrangements for through tickets to other networks including, for example, the London Underground.
