- (2) what guidance has been issued to the Central Office of Information on Government advertising and marketing in (a) the period immediately before a general election and (b) during a general election campaign.

On the announcement of a general election, the Cabinet Office issues guidance on the handling of departmental business during the pre-election period, including on advertising and marketing. Until the announcement of the general election, advertising and marketing will be conducted in line with the ““Propriety Guidance”” for government communications, a copy of which is in the Library of both Houses.
