Colombia: Human Rights

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will instruct HM Ambassador in Bogota to raise the recent assassination of Colombian human rights defender Jhonny Hurtado and its effects on the human rights situation in that country with the Colombia office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Answer

Our ambassador does not intend to raise this case with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia. However, he has raised Mr. Hurtado's assassination with the Director of the Presidential Human Rights Programme and the Head of the International Relations Unit at the Colombian Prosecutor's Office.
