- To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department pursuant to the answer of 5 July 2010, Official Report, columns 385-86W, what role (a) the National Statistician and (b) the UK Statistics Authority will have in the review of crime statistics.

We are determined to restore trust in crime statistics and are currently considering how they should be collected and published in future.My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has recently met with Sir Michael Scholar, the Chair of the UK Statistics Authority, to discuss the recommendations in the authority's recent report on improving trust in crime statistics. In considering what improvements can be made to how crime statistics are collected and published, we will carefully consider the views of both the authority and of the National Statistician.
