Equality: Budget June 2010

Question: To ask the Minister for Women and Equalities if she will make an assessment of the effect on (a) men and (b) women in Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock constituency of the measures in the June 2010 Budget.

Answer: My right hon. Friend, the Minister for Women and Equalities and I take this issue very seriously. To support Departments in taking account of equality considerations when assessing policy options in the context of identifying departmental savings, Government Equalities Office officials have held a series of advisory meetings with other Government Departments and organised training seminars, one of which was attended by the Regulator, the Equality and Human Rights Commission.There are no plans to commission separate work on how the provisions in the Budget will affect men and women for the constituency of Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock.
