Finance: Clearing Houses
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether London’s competitiveness as a location for the central clearing of equity, bonds and derivatives will be disadvantaged by the lack of access to Euro funding from central banks; and, if so, what action they will take.
- Answer
-
The UK hosts multiple clearing houses offering foreign currency denominated clearing including in euros. There is no obligation to have access to central bank liquidity in order to offer these clearing services and in all cases the Financial Services Authority requires that appropriate risk management controls are in place.
