Local Strategic Partnerships

- To ask Her Majesty’s Government further to the Written Answer by Baroness Hanham on 18 October (WA 119), whether any central government funding is dependent on the existence of a local strategic partnership; whether they will impose any sanctions or other penalties (financial or otherwise) on a local authority if there is no local strategic partnership in their area; and whether they give any advice (statutory or otherwise) to local authorities on the subject of local strategic partnerships.

Central government funding is not dependent on the existence of a local strategic partnership. As local strategic partnerships are purely voluntary, there are no sanctions or penalties on a local authority if there is no local strategic partnership in their area. Non-statutory guidance on local strategic partnerships is included in the statutory guidance, Creating Strong, Safe and Prosperous Communities. That guidance is to be reviewed as part of a wider survey of reducing unnecessary burdens and duties.
