Housing: Insulation

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change whether he has made an estimate of the number of (a) homes and (b) businesses in (i) England, (ii) Hampshire and (iii) East Hampshire constituency which would be eligible for support for (A) loft insulation top-up, (B) cavity wall insulation, (C) internal solid wall insulation and (D) external solid wall insulation under the proposed Green Deal.

Answer: The Green Deal has the potential to improve the energy efficiency of up to 22 million homes in England and will generate new business opportunities. It is estimated that the Green Deal could drive 14 million individual installations in homes by 2020. Many of the 4.2 million businesses in England could also benefit from the Green Deal.The Department for Energy and Climate Change does not have a detailed assessment of the potential in East Hampshire at this stage, however it is anticipated that householders and businesses across all tenures will be able to benefit from the new framework.
