Belize

Question
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what representations they have made to the Government of Belize about the recapture of Allan Cal, who was convicted of the murder of Anna Lightfoot, a British Raleigh volunteer.
Answer

I was very sorry to learn of Anna’s death and would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Lightfoot family. Our high commission in Belize maintains contact with both the Ministry of Police and Public Safety and Crimestoppers Belize on their efforts to locate and recapture Allan Cal. The deputy high commissioner in Belize spoke to the head of Crimestoppers Belize on 26 November, and was told that any leads were being followed up. We will continue to press the relevant authorities and organisations to do all they can to find Allan Cal. We will keep the family informed of any developments.
