Postal Services: Standards

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills if he will make representations to the Royal Mail on recent delays to the delivery of letters and parcels; and if he will estimate the number of letters and parcels held in postal delivery sorting offices for (a) longer than one month and (b) longer than three months in the latest period for which figures are available.
Answer

Mail delivery is an operational matter for the Royal Mail. I have therefore asked the chief executive of Royal Mail, Moya Greene, to respond directly to the hon. Member and a copy of her reply will be placed in the House Libraries.
