HMS Cumberland
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on what date HMS Cumberland is due to be decommissioned.
- Answer
-
HMS Cumberland is presently in the Mediterranean supporting enforcement action against Libya under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973. We have decided that she should remain there until she can be replaced by another suitably prepared and equipped destroyer or frigate. Because of this, her withdrawal from service will be postponed from 1 April 2011 until around the end of the month.
