Re-Export Controls Bill
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government what consideration they have given to the representations made to them by Tony Baldry MP that the Re-Export Controls Bill should be placed before a House of Commons Second Reading Committee.
- Answer
-
In responding to my honourable friend the Member for Banbury, my honourable friend the Minister of State for Business and Enterprise indicated the Government's position on the noble Lord's Private Member's Bill by making reference to the reservations I made about the Bill during its Second Reading in the House of Lords on 3 December. I regret that the Government are unable to support the Bill during its Commons stage or a motion to refer the Bill to a Second Reading Committee.
