Squirrels

- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what recent estimates she has made of the number of black squirrels in England.

Black squirrels are a colour variant of the non-native American grey squirrel. Although no specific monitoring of their numbers is undertaken, they have been reported as being present in several areas in England, including Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Huntingdonshire.
