Injunctions

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what recent assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the use of super injunctions.
Answer

The Prime Minister recently wrote to the Chairs of the Justice Select Committee and the Culture, Media and Sport Committee recommending that a Joint Committee of both Houses be established to consider current arrangements around privacy and the use of injunctions and super injunctions and whether improvements could be made. The terms of reference for the new Committee have now been agreed. The Committee has been asked to report by 29 February 2012 and we look forward to receiving its views on these important issues.
