Netherlands: Slaughterhouses

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will discuss with his Dutch counterpart the compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights of the prohibition of the practice of shechita in the Netherlands; and if he will make a statement.
Answer

The Dutch Parliament is currently considering a draft law on the prohibition of the ritual slaughter of animals. However, this is a matter for the Dutch Government and Parliament.
