Motability: Regulation

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the regulation of the Motability scheme; and whether he has plans to improve its regulation.
Answer

The Department works closely with Motability but it is an independent charity and is wholly responsible for the administration of the Motability scheme. The Department for Work and Pensions regularly meets with Motability to discuss the performance of the Specialised Vehicles Fund, which Motability administers on its behalf, and to discuss the Motability scheme more generally. These discussions are helpful to both parties in order to ensure that the scheme gives personal mobility on terms which represent value for money and meet the needs of disabled people.
