Written question asked by Lord Alton of Liverpool (Crossbench), in the House of Lords. It was answered by Lord Hill of Oareford (Conservative) on Tuesday, 12 July 2011.
White Rose Resistance Movement
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they will ask schools, universities and other appropriate bodies to commemorate the White Rose resistance movement.
- Answer
-
The Department for Education has not made any arrangements for schools to commemorate the White Rose resistance movement because we believe it is important for schools to decide the most appropriate way to mark this. Universities are independent organisations and able to make their own decisions about which groups and movements to commemorate. The Government do not determine universities' decisions in this area.
