Armed Forces: Recruitment
- Question
- To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many persons were selected for each of the armed forces from each nation and region of the UK in the last 12 months for which figures are available.
- Answer
-
The requested information is not held centrally. However, details of the number of entrants from recruitment centres around the UK have been placed in the Library of the House. This will give an indication of the geographical spread of recruitment but does not provide a comprehensive picture of where these individuals may reside as they may not always apply to join the services through their nearest career office or may choose other means by which to apply.Royal Navy and Royal Marine officers are primarily recruited via regional officer careers liaison centres, each of which covers a large area of the UK. Army officers are recruited through regional army careers advisers (ACA) based at an armed forces careers office in the area.
