- (2) what recent estimate he has made of the face value of counterfeit coins in circulation.

The most recent survey conducted by the Royal Mint found that its sample contained an estimated £1 coin counterfeit rate of 2.94%, or approximately 45 million £1 coins.The Royal Mint does not currently undertake regular surveys for other denominations. The Royal Mint, the Serious Organised Crime Agency and industry partners do hot believe that there is a significant counterfeit issue with any other denominations.
