- To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he is taking to reduce the number of counterfeit bank notes in circulation.

Issuance of banknotes in England and Wales is a key role of the Bank of England. As part of this objective, the bank has an anti-counterfeiting strategy to reduce the number of counterfeit Bank of England notes. The bank's approach to the monitoring and reduction of counterfeits is outlined on its website at:"http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/about/counterfeits.htm"
