Energy: Fuel Poverty

Question
To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many households are currently in fuel poverty, according to the standard definition; and what proportion of that total they estimate is the result of extra costs on the consumer due to environmental policies.
Answer

In 2009, the latest year for which data are available, there were 4 million households in England in fuel poverty. The number for the UK was 5.5 million households in 2009. There has been no estimate made of the total cost of environmental policies on fuel poverty.
