Health: Dangerous Pathogens

- To ask Her Majesty’s Government what, if any, discussions they have had regarding an international convention on the safe transportation of pathogens.

The Department for Transport does not have any knowledge of an international convention on the safe transportation of pathogens nor of any discussions related to it. However, the safe transport of pathogens classified as infectious substances is addressed in the UN model regulations for the transport of dangerous goods that are transposed into mode specific legal transport agreements and thence to UK domestic regulations.
