International Labour Organisation: Work in Fishing Convention 2007
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty's Government when they intend to ratify the International Labour Organisation Work in Fishing Convention 2007.
- Answer
-
The intention of Her Majesty's Government is that the UK should be in a position to ratify the convention when it comes into force internationally. ILO 188 will come into force 12 months after it has been ratified by 10 countries including eight coastal states. So far only two countries have ratified the convention, so the timescale is not yet clear.
