Israel: Palestinians

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions officials in his Department have had with the Israeli government on the imprisonment of Palestinian members of the Palestine Legislative Council; and if he will make a statement.
Answer

Our embassy in Tel Aviv has raised the arrests of Palestinian Legislative Council Members with the Israeli authorities. Most recently, the British ambassador to Tel Aviv raised this issue with the Israeli Deputy Attorney General on 23 April. I raised our concerns regarding the arrests and the number of Palestinians currently being held under administrative detention with the Israeli ambassador to London on 23 February. We will continue to monitor the situation closely.
