Taxis: Minimum Wage

Question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills what controls are in place to ensure that drivers working for (a) Addison Lee and (b) other minicab companies receive the national minimum wage.
Answer

This Government is firmly committed to the national minimum wage (NMW). To support this, we are committed to effective, risk-based enforcement to ensure a level playing field for legitimate businesses and to protect workers who are at risk of abuse by those who refuse to play by the rules. Our policy is to ensure that all workers who are entitled to the NMW receive it. HM Revenue & Customs investigate all complaints made to them about underpayment of the NMW. Anyone who believes they are being underpaid should contact the Pay and Work Rights Helpline.
