Cyclists: Safety
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Wallace of Saltaire on 23 April (WA 314), what guidance they have given to local authorities about possible methods of enforcement of 20mph zones.
- Answer
-
Enforcement of speed limits relates to the criminal law and is primarily a matter for the police. The Department for Transport has not issued guidance on enforcement to local authorities. We are currently reviewing our guidance on setting local speed limits and are liaising with the police and local authorities as part of this review.
