Answer

Mr. Matthew Banks: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the powers in the Uncertificated Securities Regulations 1995 will be delegated to the Securities and Investments Board.[21191] Mrs. Angela Knight: The Treasury has now delegated to the Securities and Investments Board the relevant powers in the Uncertificated Securities Regulations 1995, SI 1995 No. 3272. This gives to the SIB the role of approving and supervising Crest as the current operator of the forthcoming paperless securities settlement system. Copies of the delegation instrument have been placed in the Libraries of the House.
