Question: If he will call for, and publish, a cost-benefit analysis on the work of the Government Office for the South West.

Answer: Mr. Stern: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will call for, and publish, a cost-benefit analysis on the work of the Government office for the south-west.[22355] Sir Paul Beresford: The GOSW's programme and running cost expenditure for 1994-95, objectives and achievements, are contained in the offices annual report, which I have arranged to be sent to the hon. Member. For 1995-96, the office's running cost budget is £7.6 million. Details are available in GO-MINIS1, a copy of which is in the Library of this House. The Office's annual report for 1995-96 and GO-MINIS2 with details of Government office running costs budgets for 1995-96 will be available in due course. I believe that the Government office, operating within the rigorous framework of the GO-MINIS exercise, provides good value for money.
