Under what statutory provision French fishermen are permitted to fish in the Minquies.

Mr. Barry Field: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Dpearmtent under what statutory provision French fishermen are permitted to fish in the Minquiers. [7764] Mr. Sackville: The waters around the Minquiers form part of the territorial sea of Jersey. The Sea Fisheries (Jersey) Law 1994 permits continued fishing by French vessels in this area, in conformity with long-standing agreements between the British and French Governments.
