Question: What additional resources have been made available to the Atomic Weapons Establishment in respect of the promotion and operation of a comprehensive test ban treaty.

Answer: Mr. Cohen: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what additional resources have been made available to the Atomic Weapons Establishment in respect of the promotion and operation of a comprehensive test ban treaty. [9635] Mr. Arbuthnot: As there are currently no plans to involve AWE in the promotion and operation of CTBT, no additional resources have been allocated. The United Kingdom remains committed to an effective and verifiable comprehensive test ban treaty. My Department has made available additional funding for the United Kingdom's share of the international monitoring system, which is to be established by the CTBT organisation.
