Mr. Fabricant: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the role of British forces in peacekeeping operations around the world with particular reference to mine clearing.[26933] Mr. Soames: We are making significant contributions to United Nations peacekeeping operations around the world. In the specialised area of mine clearance, the United Kingdom has made a major contribution to training trainers and providing advice in developing an indigenous capability that will continue after peacekeeping forces have withdrawn.
