Answer

Sir Anthony Grant: To ask the President of the Board of Trade what measures he is taking to protect the public from strikes in essential services. [5815] Mr. John M. Taylor: On November 19, the Government published a Green Paper, "Industrial Action and Trade Unions", containing proposals to protect the public and the economy from industrial action which inflicts disproportionate or excessive damage on third parties. The proposals are also designed to ensure that strikes are called only as a genuine last resort.
