- What is his Department's assessment on whether the safety and reliability of Britain's nuclear warheads can only be maintained through a continuation of testing that produces a fission yield; what assessment he has made of the implications for the development of new nuclear warheads of the UK signing a comprehensive test ban treaty which prohibited any further nuclear testing which produced a fission yield. - Ref to 263 c469W.
