Mr. Hancock: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will suspend the licence granted to Huntingdon Life Sciences to breed beagles. [21333] Mr. George Howarth: I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Gloucester (Ms Kingham) on 18 December 1997, Official Report, columns 262-63. The care and accommodation for the dogs meet the requirements of the codes of practice and there are no legitimate grounds on which to suspend the Certificate of Designation.
