Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, what progress the Government has made implementing the recommendations of Lord Donaldson's inquiry into the prevention of pollution from merchant shipping. - Includes fact that have today placed copies of a progress note in the Library.

Answer: Dr. Starkey: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what progress the Government has made implementing the recommendations of Lord Donaldson's inquiry into the prevention of pollution from merchant shipping. [21668] Ms Glenda Jackson: I have today placed copies of a progress note in the Library. This shows that the bulk of the Inquiry's recommendations have now been implemented, that the implementation of the majority of the remainder is ongoing, that some have been overtaken, and that only five are still under consideration.
