Mr. Sweeney: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is (a) the average sum per pupil and (b) the average percentage of the general schools budget allotted by each local education authority in the current financial year for (i) money allocated to schools via age-weighted pupil units, (ii) premature retirement compensation, (iii) school transport, (iv) statementing and support for statemented pupils and (v) school meals, net of income. [20513] Mr. Jonathan Evans: Local education authorities must allocate at least 80 per cent. of the aggregated schools budget on the basis of pupil numbers. To break down the ASB on the basis of age-weighted pupil units could be done only at disproportionate cost.
