Mr. Dalyell: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assessment he has made of the summer use of (a) organophosphates and (b) pyrethroids on the numbers and range of song-birds. [14675] Mrs. Browning: The Department of the Environment and English Nature, on behalf of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, are funding a review of the available information on the indirect effects of pesticides on farmland birds. I understand that the results will be published later this year. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is also funding relevant research which was listed in the reply given to him by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Environment on 17 December Official Report, column 544. The results of these projects will be made available to the Advisory Committee on Pesticides and the Pesticides Forum.
