Mr. Caplin: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to improve the conditions in which live animals are transported. [58054] Mr. Morley: We are working closely with enforcement agencies so as to achieve strict enforcement of the new rules we introduced last year. We have enhanced our procedures for ensuring that only fit and healthy animals are exported, and have consulted on important changes to the export certification arrangements. We have launched a new Strategy for the protection of livestock in markets.
