Answer

Mr. Simon Hughes: To ask the Minister without Portfolio what representations he has received on linking the Millennium Experience in the UK with the experience of debt reduction or cancellation in other countries of the world. [42021] Mr. Mandelson: I have received a number of representations on this important issue, as have my colleagues in the Treasury, the Department for International Development and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Representations have particularly related to the Jubilee 2000 campaign and the Bondfire project. The Government are committed to the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative, which aims to reduce the debt burden of the world's most indebted countries to sustainable levels.
