Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if he will institute an inquiry into security procedures at Bulwood Prison, Hockley, following the findings of the police investigation.

Answer: Mr. Flynn: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will institute an inquiry into security procedures at Bulwood Prison, Hockley, following the findings of the police investigation. [60337] Mr. George Howarth: There were two police investigations into the death of Ms O'Dwyer. The first, a routine investigation, concluded that there were no suspicious circumstances. A second investigation was undertaken following the adjournment of the inquest when allegations were made that a witness had committed perjury. The matter was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service who have decided not to proceed further. The Prison Service is considering the outcome of the Coroner's inquest together with the findings of its own internal investigation. I am content that this constitutes a satisfactory examination of procedures at Bulwood Hall.
