Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, what assessment he has made of the conclusions of Taskforce 2000 published on 11th November in respect of his Department's most recent quarterly return on plans and progress towards Year 2000 readiness.

Answer: Mr. Chope: To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what assessment he has made of the conclusions of Taskforce 2000 published on 11 November in respect of his Department's most recent quarterly return on plans and progress towards Year 2000 readiness. [60224] Mr. Timms: We have noted the conclusions of Taskforce 2000, published on 11 November, in respect of this Department. We are content with what amounts to a commendation of our efforts to date. However, given the significant risks posed by this issue, no-one can afford to be complacent. We are maintaining our approach and commitment to avert any material disruption arising from the year 2000 date change. The results of the next quarterly review will be announced shortly to the House and copies of this Department's latest quarterly return will be placed in the libraries of the House and published on the Internet.
