Mr. Chaytor: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what representations he has received relating to unacceptable practices in doorstep selling; and if he will make a statement. [58138] Dr. Howells: [holding answer 5 November 1998]: My Department has received a number of representations from consumers about unacceptable practices in doorstep selling. The DTI recently consulted on proposals to strengthen consumer protection in this area. I hope to make Regulations by the end of the year to implement these proposals.
