To ask the Secretary of State for Health, when he plans to respond to the third report from the Health Committee of session 1997-98 on The Welfare of Former British Child Migrants (HC 755); and what discussions he has held on this matter with (a) the Australian and (b) the New Zealand government.

Ms Squire: To ask the Secretary of State for Health when he plans to respond to the third report from the Health Committee of session 1997-98 on the Welfare of Former British Child Migrants (HC 755); and what discussions he has held on this matter with (a) the Australian and (b) the New Zealand Government. [55165] Mr. Boateng: Officials in the Department have approached officials in the Governments of Australia and New Zealand through our High Commissions in Canberra and Wellington. The discussions are ongoing. The Department is considering the report of the Health Select Committee on the Welfare of Former British Child Migrants carefully. The Government will publish their response shortly.
