To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment he has made of recruitment and retention problems in cytology services.
Answer

Dr. Starkey: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of recruitment and retention problems in cytology services. [55142] Mr. Milburn: A research programme to assess future service needs and issues surrounding recruitment to and retention within the workforce involved in the provision of cytology services is to be commissioned. This will report to the National Health Service Executive through the National Advisory Group for Scientists and Technicians.
