Answer

Sir Teddy Taylor: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if witnesses participating in the proposed trial of the Lockerbie suspects at The Hague will be protected during travel to The Hague from arrest in respect of other alleged crimes; and if he will make a statement. Mr. Tony Lloyd: The Agreement between the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, signed on 18 September, makes clear that any witnesses attending the trial of the two Libyans accused at the Scottish court, in the Netherlands would be immune from arrest in respect of any offence committed prior to their arrival in the Netherlands.
