Mr. Alan Simpson: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence which two hunter-killer submarines are to be retired as a result of the outcome of the Strategic Defence Review. [52182] Mr. Spellar: As a consequence of the Strategic Defence Review, HMS Splendid and HMS Spartan will be taken out of service earlier than previously planned.
