Mr. Spring: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what (a) consultations he had with or (b) representations he received from the horse racing industry prior to his announcement about the Tote of 11 June. [47528] Dawn Primarolo: HM Customs and Excise officials have regular discussions with members of the horseracing industry. The Chancellor of the Exchequer received in January 1998 a copy of the British Horseracing Board's Financial Plan for British Racing.
