Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions have taken place between Her Majesty's Government and the United States Government concerning United Nations sanctions against Libya; and if he will make a statement.

Answer: Mr. Maples: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have taken place between Her Majesty's Government and the United States Government concerning United Nations sanctions against Libya; and if he will make a statement. [91239] Mr. Hoon: We remain in close consultation with the Governments of the United States and Libya and the United Nations Secretary-General with a view to securing full Libyan compliance with the requirements of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. We welcome the progress to date, as set out in the Secretary-General's report to the UN Security Council last week. When the remaining requirements are met, the United Kingdom will support the lifting of UN sanctions against Libya, which are currently suspended.
