Answer

Mr. Barry Jones: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what initiatives he is taking to ensure improved road safety in the vicinity of schools in Queensferry, Shotton and Connah's Quay; and if he will make a statement. [66411] Mr. Hain: I recently announced that I have allocated £39,000 to Flintshire County Council, for 1999-2000, under the Safe Routes to School Initiative. This will help the local authority to improve road safety in the vicinity of eleven primary and two secondary schools in the Connah's Quay, Shotton and Queensferry areas.
