To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, If he will make a statement on his plans for new training facilities in Sheffield. (Failed OPQ) - Inc fact that Chief Executive of the L.S.C.,John Harwood will write and place a copy of his reply in Library.

Mr. Bill Michie: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on his plans for new training facilities in Sheffield. [157942] Mr. Wicks: This is a matter for the Learning and Skills Council. I have therefore asked John Harwood, the council's chief executive, to write to my hon. Friend with the information requested and to place a copy of his reply in the Library. However, Sheffield College will be in discussions with the LSC about the development of the new programme of Centres of Vocational Excellence, and new Technology Institutes. There has also been, as part of Excellence in Cities, the development of new City Learning Centres in the city.
